Entomology Care Guide

Since my artwork is made with organic materials there are many things that need to be taken into consideration to ensure the longevity of these pieces.

Preserved insect specimens must not be displayed in direct sunlight, near heating vents or places with high humidity. Exposure to sunlight will bleach insect specimens over time, as well as dull the colors of plants and moss. Direct sunlight and heating vents will also cause humidity to accumulate inside of the piece, which can cause the specimens to fall from their fixed position, create mold, and the issue of mites may arise.

Mite eggs are laid inside of insects while they are alive and are prone to hatching when exposed to heat. If this ever occurs, you may place your piece in the freezer for up to 72 hours to eliminate this issue.

All of my frames are sealed as a preventative measure so nothing can enter or exit, however the cork domes I sell are not sealed. Please use caution when handling. Removal of the glass dome is not recommended.

As long as the piece is kept out of the sun and away from excessive heat, you should not encounter these issues and you will be able to admire it for years to come.

If for any reason you have an issue, please reach out and I will do my best to help!
